OttoCare – Lifetime Road Hazard Warranty

Terms and Conditions

The Offer: The Otto Lifetime Road Hazard Warranty (the “Warranty”) applies to any tire previously purchased and installed through CAA Atlantic Services Limited (doing business as “Otto”) by a customer (“you” or “your”) for which Warranty coverage is available and selected at the time of purchase (any such tire, a “Covered Tire”). The Warranty provides coverage for the entirety of a Covered Tire’s useful life.  So long as a Covered Tire has greater than 2/32” of tread remaining, you are entitled to a free replacement should the Covered Tire become damaged beyond repair from a road hazard failure (such as a puncture, bruise, cut, or debris damage). The Warranty covers the replacement costs of an identical tire as the failed Covered Tire, if in stock and still retailed by Otto. If no identical replacement exists, Otto will offer, at the Customer’s option, (i) a tire with the same dimensions as the Covered Tire at a price within +-5% of the original purchase price or (ii) a credit towards a new tire of the customer's choice in an amount equal to the original purchase price of the Covered Tire.

Cost of Warranty: The cost of the Warranty varies based on the price of the Covered Tire.  To determine the price, create a quote through the Shop Tires section on the Otto website and select the optional Otto Lifetime Road Hazard Warranty or ask an Otto representative for a written quote. The Warranty must be purchased for each individual Covered Tire.

Warranty Claims: To make a claim under the Warranty, you must present the receipt of the original purchase and the damaged Covered Tire(s) to an Otto representative, who will then review whether the damage is covered by the Warranty. All claims must be made within 30 days of a Covered Tire becoming damaged. Replacement of a Covered Tire or a credit towards a new tire purchase, as described above, are your sole and exclusively remedies under the Warranty.

Conditions of Warranty: To maintain the validity of the Warranty, rotate and balance your tires as outlined by your vehicle manufacturer (“OEM”). Operate your tires at inflation pressures specified in your service manual by the vehicle manufacturer. Ensure all mechanical parts affecting tire condition and life are properly maintained and in good working condition. The Warranty is non-transferable and you must be the original purchaser of the Covered Tire from Otto to made any claim thereunder.

What is Covered: The Warranty covers road hazard failures in any Covered Tire equipped on a non-commercial passenger vehicle. Contact an Otto representative to confirm coverage for other vehicle types. The Warranty only applies to the specific Covered Tire and cannot be used as credit to replace other non-failed tires due to road hazards. A Covered Tire ceases to be covered by the Warranty when it has 2/32 of an inch (1.6 mm) or less of tread depth remaining (as judged by the tread wear indicators). At this point, the Covered Tire is considered “worn out” and beyond its useful life and will no longer be covered in any respect by the Warranty.

What is Not Covered: Damage reasonably believed by Otto to have been incurred by vandalism, car accidents, commercial use, racing, wheel spinning, off-road use, snow chains or studs, rapid or irregular wear, wear from worn or improperly installed mechanical components, Covered Tires that have been transferred to a vehicle other than that on which they were originally installed, or a Covered Tire suffering damage that does not meet the definition of “road hazard failure” as previously mentioned. The Warranty does not include any free rotation schedule. Installation & taxes are not included.

Important Recommendations:

  • Monitor air pressure with monthly checks, ensuring correct inflation pressures as stated by OEM.

  • Register your tires with the manufacturer (where applicable) using the DOT card provided at the time of installation.

  • Read and follow the tire manufacturer's maintenance requirements in the documents provided at the time of installation.

  • Insist on “2-piece” tire repairs if repairs are required; "Fix a Flat" (such as tire plugs) products should be avoided if possible.

  • If purchasing fewer than 4 tires, new tires should be mounted on the back.

  • Retighten lug nuts 80km after having your tire replaced.

  • Ensure your lug nuts are torqued to OEM specifications.

This warranty is offered by CAA Atlantic Services Inc, DBA “Otto,” having its head office located at 378 Westmorland Rd, Saint John, NB E2J 2G4.
